Just because you are dating it does not mean that you have to go out every weekend. If you decide to stay in on a weekend night, you are not a loser. If you decide to say in, it does not mean that there is anything wrong with your relationship. It is important to spend time alone every once in a while.
Even when you are in a relationship, it is important to work on your inner self. This does not mean that you have to start seeing a therapist or start meditating to see your inner self. However, these are both healthy ways to reconnect with yourself. Just sitting at home and doing things that you truly love will help you to reconnect with your inner self.

I have a friend who recently emailed me that his marriage is on its last legs. Basically, they are staying together because they can not afford a divorce. They are still friends but there is no relationship, or so I am told. It got me to thinking, is this a normal part of a relationship? Do all relationships fizzle out?
I am in a part of my relationship where all the fizzle is gone. I am thinking that mine is based on the fact that my boyfriend is in Atlanta. I hope that losing the fizzle is not part of all relationships. I know that relationships will not always be as hot and fiery as it is in the first couple of months. However, there needs to be some sort of fizzle through out the relationship.

Time is at a premium when you are dating as a single parent. There will be times when you can get away and enjoy a first date with that someone new and exciting. This is a chance to get to know the person. A first date for a single parent is also a way to enjoy some of life that you usually do not get to do with your children. Here are some of my top picks for single parent first dates
1. Dinner at an adult restaurant
2. Cocktails at an upscale bar
3. Any movie that is PG 13 or rated higher
4. A concert
5. Trip to the Local Bookstore

There are many ideas on what type of personalities go together when you date. Some people believe that opposites attract and that if you are not different then the person that you are dating, you will drive each other insane. There is another train of thought that says that you should date someone who is like you in personality. These people believe that the fire will quickly burn out with opposites but the bond that is created with like minded people will last the test of time when dating. So who is right when it comes to dating?
I believe that they are both right in a way in regards to dating. Through my dating life, I have dated guys that were like me and guys that were the complete opposite. Now as I date as a single mom, I have found that if I date someone who is like me in a few ways and opposite in other ways. This type of guy balances me out when I date as a single mom.

There will be times that you will need to cancel a date at the last minute because of your child. With children, anything and everything can happen and usually does. You may have the perfect date planned only to find that your child has an upset stomach. You need to be open and honest about why you need to cancel your date with your other half. To lessen the pain of canceling, you should offer to reschedule at your date’s earliest liking. Always be upfront with your dates that your child comes first no matter what. This will help them to understand why you may need to cancel at the last minute.
